George is a member of the NSSA Hall of Fame, a World, Zone, State and National skeet champion, and has been selected to 20 All-American teams. George presently holds the world record high doubles average, and has led the world on several occasions, including a perfect average of 1.000 in the 12-gauge. He was the first shooter in NY State to break a 4x4 back in 1978, and the first shooter to break 4x4 at the US Open in 1983.
George has instructed many of the top shooters in the country, including world champions and All-Americans, and is recognized as a top shooter who is also an excellent coach, who is able to help shooters of all skill levels and ability achieve their goals. Lehr has been an instructor and coach for the Ladies’ Charity Classic in Memphis for 3 years, where more than $.5 million has been raised to benefit St Jude’s Hospital for Children, www.ladiescharityclassic.com, is the website where more info and pix are available.
Lehr states, “At the ladies charity shoot, my novice teams have won the Novice Competition for the last 2 years running, which is pretty good, as this event randomly assigns brand-new shooters to the nationally-known coaches who volunteer our time, we work with them for a few hours in the morning, and the teams shoot against each other in a 50-target competition. You might say this is a “coaches competition,” as it demonstrates the ability to show novice shooters how to break targets, give them confidence, in a very short period of time.”
George is a full-time coach, able and willing to travel. George’s home club is one of the premier shooting facilities in the country, Rochester-Brooks Gun Club in Rush, NY, and many students travel to Rochester, to spend a few days with George and enjoy spring, summer and fall in beautiful Upstate New York.

One of the first and largest DIVAS supporters in NY for a long time, Dave has been teaching firearms safety and self defense for over 15 years. After working with a womens group for a self defense project a number of years ago, Dave found his true calling - teaching women about the shooting sports and self defense. Dave saw that most instructors that held 'Ladies only' events or womens training sessions, did not really know how to reach their audience. He sat and observed many hours of women not learning and not getting the information they needed because of the instructor's inability to connect. When Dave set out to teach the 'fairer side', he spent many hours learning about teaching women. Learning the differences (most times - better!) helped Dave become the leading Women's Instructor in his region. The Ladies Only concept has been growing steadily every year.
Dave's experiences in law enforcement, training with the military, and training civilians has been widespread and varied. Each class has held one goal for Dave - to gain the most important part of the class to take home to his students.
Dave's comments about women in the shooting sports: "Most women have been restricted by society's view that they should not have to protect themselves, so they do not actively seek any personal safety training. They tend to face a multitude of barriers or hurdles; the biggest one is actually locating a facility for quality, common sense training, and then finding a competent, easy going, professional self defense trainer that knows what to present and how to present it to the female student without seeming demeaning or pompous. The latter condition is the most important."
Dave has hand picked all of the instructors for Rochester Personal Defense, LLC. One of his main criteria is that the instructor MUST be able to teach a ladies class and do well at it. If they can accomplish this, then they can teach ANY class to perfection.
Dave has recently become a Training Counselor for the NRA. This means he can teach new instructors. If you are interested in passing along your knowledge, safety, and passion for shooting, become an instructor. Contact Dave at the address below for more information.
By request, Dave and the instructors of Rochester Personal Defense, LLC will host 'Women Only' training classes. This can be any class in our curriculum. The most popular are:
• Home Firearms Safety, Basic Pistol
• Introduction to Self Defense
• Basic Self Defense
• Intermediate Self Defense Classes.
This type of format helps to ease your way into self defense training and the shooting sports. After an initial start, we will work you into our other classes to continue your training. Dave provides the 'non-testosterone' based classes that appeal to and encourage the female shooter to learn and grow.
